British Columbia, CanadaRidge WalkingRidge DancingKenJanineText Box: THE GUESTHOUSE is located right on a busy downtown Vancouver Street, but amongst all the high-rises, you would never know that there was a house behind that yellow front gate.

THE HIDEAWAY is one of downtown Vancouver’s oldest homes, built in as an Adventurers Guesthouse in 1896 she went to extraordinary lengths to survive the urbanization of the 20th Century. It had been empty for a long time when we first saw it and we decided that with a little work we could make it into the kind of place where we would want to stay before heading out adventuring in the mountain wilds. A quite, relaxed sort of place, in the middle of everything, that is anything but a plastic hotel experience full of Gucci Tourists. We wanted to surround ourselves with nature loving people who are here to enjoy a little of what this amazing world has to offer.

A MILLION gallons of paint and ten million hours of slaving later we were ready for business..
